The BC Prosperity Project notes that the 2025 federal budget once again shortchanges British Columbia. BC sends approximately $30 billion more to Ottawa each year than it receives back in federal spending and transfers.
"Every year, the numbers tell the same story," said BCPP Communications Director James Okafor. "British Columbians work hard, pay disproportionately into confederation, and watch those dollars leave the province. At some point, people start asking why."
BCPP will be publishing a detailed analysis of BC's fiscal position within confederation in the coming weeks.
